What better way to start a morning than to have breakfast in the balcony, bread bought from the local store, overlooking a beautiful sea and right beside old town.

Dubrovnik old town also called as the pearl of the orient is surrounded by a wall to offer protection from protection from enemy that wanted to conquer Dubrovnik. However, Dubrovnik do get attack a lot. The most recent were on October 1, 1991, where Dubrovnik was attacked by the Serbo-Montenegrin army. The siege lasted for 7 months. In May 1992, the Croatian army liberated Dubrovnik though they still received sudden attacks from Serbo-Montenegrin army within the next 3 years.

Many of Dubrovnik young people died during the siege. A sanctuary was set-up here as remembrance. You can still saw some burned building throughout Dubrovnik that haven't been restored. Anja was very sad during the time when we went to the sanctuary. She pointed people that she knew that were dead and had to leave the room.

Pic: Stradun which usually fills with tourist and so crowded during summer.

After that, we took a walk along the main road; stradun and the port area and also the surrounding area until lunch.

We ate at a corner seafood restaurant near the port. It was very fresh and delicious. I took the grilled prawns and can eat it day after day.

Pic: Seafood risotto. I can never like risotto; to me it taste like in-between rice and porridge

Pic: Grilled prawns. Now you see.....

Pic: ..... Now you don't.

Somehow, during our walk, we found a doorway, more like a hole towards the sea. I think I've read about this, where it is actually a pub but seems closed now. Probably due to the wind.

Pic: The sea beside the old town wall. More pictures the next day when we revisited the place.

We're so looking forward to cook ourselves some good meal with rice. We missed rice already. However, the shop didn't have any chillies what so ever. No red chillies, jalapeno or even bell pepper. So, it was not spicy at all but at least we found rice :P
