Travel to Germany Day 1

It's been long since I updated the blog. I've been very lazy lately probably due to the reasons that I finally got plenty of rest ... :) Anyway, I had been planning to wrote about the current trip that I went and later I went back to the previous trip. While I was doing research (so academic!) on the trip, I read on some forums and blogs and their stories are interesting but I was also looking for specific things like the accommodation. Here was I reading on the interesting stories and praise on the apartments/hotels/hostels that they stayed until I then came to the end of the story. What is the stupid apartments/hotels/hostels's name????? So, here I will try to put more info on that kind of thing in case someone wants to follow our footsteps.

On 11 April, my hubby, his friend and I were taking the night flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Frankfurt, Germany. We were using Malaysia Airlines (MAS) which we got great price during the MAS fair in KL. The price is slightly expansive than last year (RM 2774 per pax) with the airport tax. We arrived around 6-7 a.m. in Frankfurt in silvery mist that shows, yes, it was still cold (6 degrees) and spring was not here yet. Due to the global climate change, it seems that spring is late this year and one of the locals says just the week before, they still got snow.

Since we're planning to go to the countryside and small towns, we rent a car from Europcar at the airport. We figure that we will get more choices at the airport and didn't booked from Internet but unfortunately, it isn't so. The prices in Internet is slightly cheaper than at the counter and we paid 324 euro per car for 4 days.

After a coffee, a croissant and a dreadful pretzel (11.90 euro) , we went to the center of the city to look around. Pretzel which origin comes from Germany hence, the reason why I bought it, which ingredient consists also of coarse salts. To get a really nice pretzel, you'll have to pick the one that have less salt on top of it and I think the one that is not too glazed as pointed by one of our Germany friend later. The one that we bought was so salty and sour that it actually meant to be eaten with beer. Very different from Malaysia's pretzel that always sweet.

Our next stop was Kaiserslautern and where we have our lunch. Its a small town which consists about 99 thousand of people. It's now become the centre of information and communications technology. One of the popular building is the
Fritz Walter Stadium which hosts 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Then, we went south some more to a town called Saarburg. It's a picturesque town where a lots of weddings are being captured here. It is situated on the banks of Saar River and grapes valley.

After that, we went to the town of Trier and slept until the next morning.
